Thomas Jefferson Elementary School

Image Unavailable
In 2008 the city installed 2 rain gardens at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School as part of a grant.

The rain garden located in the back parking lot helps mitigate stormwater quality by collecting polluted water from the parking lot and then allowing it to filter into the ground naturally. The rain gardens at the front of the school were created to treat stormwater runoff from the roof.

The runoff 1st enters 4 cisterns and then is slowly released to prevent erosion and promote infiltration into the ground.
