Join us on Zoom for a chat with acclaimed author Bruce Holsinger about his novel, The Gifted School, a Book of the Month Club main selection, and one of NPR’s Best Books of 2019. The novel is currently in development as a TV series with NBC/Universal Television. The Gifted School is a compulsively readable novel about a previously happy group of friends and parents that is nearly destroyed by their own competitiveness when an exclusive school for gifted children opens in the community. This deliciously sharp novel captures the relentless ambitions and fears that animate parents and their children in modern America, exploring the conflicts between achievement and potential, talent and privilege. Since 2005 Bruce Holsinger has taught in the Department of English at the University of Virginia, where he specializes in medieval literature and modern critical thought.
