Sewer Lining in the 204 blocks of W George Mason Rd
Monday, November 28, 2022
Expect parking and water use restrictions in the area for the rehabilitation project.
Parking Restrictions
To allow for staging room around manholes and to maintain traffic on streets, temporary no-parking zones may be designated as necessary.
Water Use Restrictions
Affected customers will be notified and provided with more detailed information before the sewer line serving their residence or business is scheduled for rehabilitation.
The resin used in the lining process has an unpleasant odor that is detectable at very low concentration levels. The odor may enter your home through dry drain traps. To eliminate any possibility of odor, please pour some water into all drains prior to 8:00 a.m. the day of service to ensure water is in the trap and a seal exists.
Affected customers should be also be aware of the following during their window of service:
- You must discontinue all in-house water usage, which includes showers, toilets, sinks, washing machines, dishwashers, etc. Customers should store water for personal and cooking needs prior to 8:00 a.m.
- You must not discharge (i.e. flush or drain) into the sewer system until the work is completed.
- If you have a sump pump and think it's connected to the sanitary sewer system, please notify Am-Liner East immediately at 540-955-9671 (TTY 711).
About the Sewer Rehabilitation Project
The City's sanitary sewer rehabilitation extends the life of the existing sewer mains and, by reducing the amount of inflow of stormwater and ground water, is expected to reduce the treatment costs paid by the City and its ratepayers. Am-Liner East is the City's contractor for relining the sewer mains. Read more about the project.
