Neighborhood Tree Planting

Saturday, April 27, 2019

Join your friends and neighbors to plant new street trees throughout the city. Trees cool and clean the air, absorb storm water, and keep the City of Falls Church beautiful. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather; bring gloves and shovels, if you have them.

Join members of VPIS for this volunteer opportunity to improve and maintain the tree canopy in the City. The tree planting event will mmediately following the Arbor Day Ceremony at 1:00 p.m.,You’ll want to wear gloves, boots or heavy shoes and clothes that can get dirty. The City will provide tools. (In case of steady rain we’ll plant on Sunday 4/28 at 1 pm). Please RSVP to: heminway.seth@gmail.com if you can help plant!

The Neighborhood Tree Program (NTP) is a partnership between the City of Falls Church and the Village Preservation and Improvement Society (VPIS) to help restore and maintain a healthy tree canopy. The simple act of planting trees reduces summer temperatures and stormwater runoff, improves air quality, beautifies neighborhoods, and increases property values by 20 percent.
