Upcoming Government Closures

Indigenous Peoples' Day: Monday, October 9

  • City Hall and all government offices (including the Commissioner of the Revenue, Treasurer's Office, and Elections Office) will be closed.
    • There will be no in-person Early Voting on Monday, October 9. 
  • The Mary Riley Styles Public Library will be closed. 
  • There is no City Council Meeting scheduled for the week of October 9.

The Community Center will be open for normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., for scheduled camps and classes.

  • Car Tax (Personal Property Tax)
  • November 7 General Election
    • Mail-in ballots have been sent.
      • If you don’t receive your by-mail ballot by October 3, contact us!
    • Early voting started Friday, September 22.
  • Traffic Signals
    • Broad and Maple: New cabinet install scheduled for mid-October.
    • Hillwood and Cherry: Complete
    • Hillwood and Roosevelt: Wood poles have been installed and the signal work is complete. Mast arms to be funded as a future project.
  • Curbside Composting
    • The City of Falls Church offers residential and business Curbside Composting through Compost Crew, with 60 percent of the fee subsidized by the City!
    • Curbside weekly pickup can include meats, seafood, dairy, compostable plastics, greasy parts of pizza boxes, and more!

  • Recycling Extravaganza
    • Saturday, October 7
    • Event is open to City of Falls Church community members only, with proof of residency required. 
    • Please Note: Medical supplies will not be accepted at this year's event.
  • Farm Day
    • October 7, Cherry Hill Park
    • 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    • Admission is free but some activities require a small fee (cash only)
